The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC) has taken a major step to enhance transparency and cooperation. With the introduction of the GSC Permitted Disclosures Order 2025, the Commission now has greater flexibility to share restricted information.
The new Order expands the list of public bodies eligible to receive such data. This includes government departments, statutory boards, the Attorney General, and regulatory or supervisory entities. All are based within the Isle of Man.
While the GSC already had powers to share information under specific conditions, this Order sharpens and simplifies those processes. It provides clearer guidance and widens the scope for sharing crucial data.
Worth noting: The GSC frequently works with the Isle of Man Constabulary and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). These partnerships are central to its efforts in maintaining a safe and compliant gambling sector.
A core focus of the Order is to improve coordination between agencies. The goal is to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and the spread of weapons (ML/TF/PF). By supporting more proactive and secure exchanges of information, the GSC aims to strengthen the island’s regulatory framework.
This update also follows a recent public statement from the Commission. The GSC reaffirmed its authority over gambling that either originates on, or uses, Isle of Man infrastructure. However, it acknowledged that its reach does not extend to all offshore gambling platforms. Specifically, those accessed by Isle of Man residents but operated entirely elsewhere fall outside its direct control.
By modernising its information-sharing rules, the GSC is improving collaboration across agencies. This change supports the Isle of Man’s ongoing commitment to transparency, security, and responsible gambling oversight.
