The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has reaffirmed its support for Special Class Business Process Outsourcing (SCBPO) firms. These companies provide essential back-office services—such as HR, marketing, and accounting—to licensed offshore gaming operators.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco clarified that while SCBPOs support the gaming sector, they are not allowed to take bets or engage in gambling activities. PAGCOR regularly audits SCBPOs to ensure compliance.
Amid the government’s recent ban on offshore-facing POGOs, concerns have emerged about the effect on supporting industries. Tengco assured that SCBPOs will remain protected and regulated.
Currently, the SCBPO sector employs nearly 5,000 Filipinos, and PAGCOR requires these companies to maintain at least 95% local workforce. Salaries in this field are also typically above industry average.
Tengco emphasized that SCBPOs play a vital role in creating quality jobs and driving economic growth. PAGCOR is committed to helping the sector expand, especially as foreign investors continue to recognize the talent of Filipino professionals.
