The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has pledged approximately PHP300 million ($5.23 million) in financial assistance to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to enhance facilities and provide advanced training tools for cadets.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco announced the commitment on March 14 during the 45th PNPA Alumni Homecoming celebration.
“While our primary role is to oversee the gaming industry, PAGCOR also has a duty to support institutions like the PNPA and the national police. Law enforcement has always been one of our key priorities,” Tengco emphasized.
The grant includes funding for the construction of a PNPA Alumni Association building, which will serve as both an administrative office and a dormitory. Additionally, the allocation will contribute to upgrading the PNPA’s Crime Scene Place, a facility used for forensic and investigative training.
Other key initiatives covered by the grant include the procurement of firearms training simulators and advanced software for crime mapping, predictive policing, and cybercrime investigations.
“Technology is an essential component of modern law enforcement, and it’s crucial that our cadets have access to the latest facilities and training innovations to effectively combat crime,” Tengco stated.
He also highlighted the significant contributions made by licensed casino foundations to law enforcement initiatives. Since 2017, nearly PHP700 million ($12.21 million) has been donated to projects supporting the Philippine National Police. Among these contributions are almost PHP600 million ($10.47 million) from Newport World Resorts Foundation, PHP40 million ($700K) from Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, PHP21 million ($370K) from Melco Resorts Philippines Foundation, and a PHP50 million ($870K) grant from the Okada Foundation.
