The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its crackdown on cybercrime linked to online gaming platforms, with a particular focus on Roblox, amid growing concerns over child exploitation and exposure to gambling-like mechanics.
Heightened Cybercrime Enforcement
In an official statement, PNP Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr directed the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) to strengthen efforts against illegal activities conducted through online gaming applications. The move follows reports of misuse on platforms such as Roblox, including allegations of sexual predation, grooming, and exploitation of minors.
Authorities emphasized that protecting children in digital spaces is now a central part of modern law enforcement, with cybercrime prevention playing a key role in public safety.
The PNP is coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) to investigate and address these concerns. Officials also noted that enforcement efforts extend beyond Roblox, with other online platforms and social media apps under active monitoring.

Roblox reports more than 111 million daily active users, with approximately 40% under the age of 13. The platform’s use of randomized rewards and purchasable virtual items has drawn increasing scrutiny from regulators and researchers.
