Play’n GO continues to hold a firm stance against sweepstakes casinos. CEO and Co-Founder Johan Törnqvist reiterated that the company will not support unregulated operations and will remain fully committed to serving regulated markets only.

“Sweepstakes casinos do not operate inside a regulated framework and that’s not something we support. Our commitment to regulated markets is absolute. We will never supply our games to sweepstakes casinos,” Törnqvist stated.

US Regulators Increasing Pressure on Sweepstakes Casinos

This firm position comes as sweepstakes casinos face growing scrutiny, particularly in the United States. Regulators and lawmakers are tightening their grip on these unregulated platforms, which often exploit legal grey areas while bypassing proper oversight.

Shawn Fluharty, Head of Government Affairs at Play’n GO, warned that working with sweepstakes casinos could have long-term consequences.

“Sweepstakes casinos threaten the regulated market model that many of us in the industry have worked so hard to achieve. Regulators across the US are rightfully beginning to crack down on these unregulated operations.”

“Anyone doing business with sweepstakes casinos today will find it very difficult to enter future regulated markets,” he added.

Prioritising Player Protection and Industry Integrity

Play’n GO has consistently taken the high road, prioritising player safety and legal compliance over quick profits. The company was the first supplier to reject ‘bonus buy’ games—products now banned by regulators in the UK and Netherlands, with others likely to follow.

This forward-thinking approach has earned Play’n GO recognition from operators focused on sustainability.

Tipico Partnership Reinforces Regulated-Only Strategy

Most notably, German operator Tipico recently named Play’n GO a priority partner. Under the new agreement, Tipico will give the company’s titles enhanced visibility and remove games from suppliers serving both regulated and black markets in Germany.

Magnus Olsson, Chief Commercial Officer at Play’n GO, explained the long-term vision:

“We’ve left a lot of money on the table with these decisions, but this is the kind of industry we want—fully regulated, sustainable, and protective of players.”

“The future of the industry is through regulation. It’s time for other suppliers to do their part, too,” Olsson added.
