An Australian gambling regulator has imposed a financial penalty on a major online bookmaker after finding that it failed to meet key consumer protection requirements. The Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission (NTRWC) fined Sportsbet approximately $206,000 (€187,000), following the identification of systemic compliance failures related to responsible gambling obligations. Responsible Gambling Breaches Identified
The NTRWC determined that Sportsbet failed to provide mandatory monthly activity statements to a large number of customers over an extended period. Between July 2022 and May 2024, more than 6,000 customer accounts did not receive the required statements, resulting in over 50,000 individual breaches.
