BC.Game Secures Kenyan Licences, Expands African Presence

BC.Game

BC.Game has strengthened its African footprint after its subsidiary, Blockdance Africa, received dual approval from Kenya’s Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB). The company now holds both a Public Gaming Licence and a Bookmakers Off-the-Course Licence. This allows it to operate fully within Kenya’s regulated market.

Kenya: A Key Growth Market

Kenya remains one of Africa’s most active gaming hubs, driven by widespread smartphone adoption and a strong sports betting culture. Regulators have tightened oversight in recent years with higher licence fees, stricter advertising rules, and stronger player protection standards.

BC.Game said the move aligns with its strategy to grow responsibly in Africa. “Kenya has always been at the heart of Africa’s gaming culture. We’re excited to bring our platform to the community here. We aim to engage with local sports, technology, and cultural initiatives,” a company spokesperson said.

Regulatory Restructuring Abroad

The Kenyan approval follows a period of regulatory transition for BC.Game. In December 2024, the operator voluntarily surrendered its Curaçao licence, citing outdated rules and inadequate legal safeguards. It mentioned specific concerns, particularly in bankruptcy protection laws dating back to 1931.

This came after legal disputes in Curaçao in November 2024, when its entities Blockdance BV and Small House BV were declared bankrupt. This occurred amid player complaints over alleged system glitches. BC.Game disputed the claims, stressing the proceedings were administrative and not related to liquidity or solvency issues.
