Brazil’s iGaming sector continues to stand out globally, with new data confirming that the market has effectively become “mobile-only.” According to research from Aposta Legal using its Bets Panel for Q1 2026, smartphones accounted for 98.64% of all visits to betting platforms, while desktop usage dropped to just 1.36%.
This level of mobile dominance places Brazil far ahead of other markets, where multi-device usage remains the norm.
Mobile-First Evolution Driven by Technology and User Behavior
Brazil’s transition to a mobile-first betting ecosystem has been shaped by widespread smartphone adoption, strong social media integration, and the rapid development of mobile-optimised platforms. Operators have increasingly prioritised responsive design and app-based experiences, enabling users to complete all key activities—from registration and deposits to live betting and withdrawals—directly on their mobile devices.
As a result, betting has become seamlessly integrated into daily routines, contributing to higher engagement levels and more frequent platform interaction.
Billions of Visits Highlight Mobile Dominance
The scale of mobile usage becomes even clearer when looking at total traffic. During the first quarter of 2026, Brazil’s iGaming market recorded approximately 6.28 billion visits. Of these, nearly 6.19 billion came from mobile devices, while desktops accounted for just 85.4 million visits.
Although desktop traffic remains significant in absolute terms, its share of total activity is minimal, reinforcing Brazil’s position as a near-exclusive mobile betting market.
Regional Comparisons Show Brazil’s Unique Position
Compared to neighbouring countries, Brazil’s mobile dominance is unmatched. In Peru, mobile devices account for around 85% of traffic, with desktops still representing 15%. Chile reports 81% mobile usage and 19% desktop, while Ecuador shows a more balanced split, with mobile at 72% and desktop at 28%.
These comparisons highlight that most Latin American markets still rely on a multi-platform approach, whereas Brazil has already moved beyond this stage into a predominantly mobile ecosystem.
Implications for Operators and Market Strategy
The data clearly indicates that operators targeting Brazil must prioritise mobile-first product development. Platform performance, user interface design, and seamless mobile payment integration are now critical factors for success in the market.
Additionally, Brazil’s trajectory suggests that other emerging iGaming markets may follow a similar path as smartphone adoption continues to rise globally.
Brazil Sets the Benchmark for Future iGaming Markets
Brazil’s near-total shift to mobile betting signals a broader industry trend toward mobile-centric gaming ecosystems. As new markets develop, Brazil is likely to serve as a benchmark for how mobile technology can reshape user behaviour, platform design, and overall market dynamics in the global iGaming sector.
