Flashscore Reaches 100 Million Audio Plays in Record-Breaking Year

Flashscore surpassed 100 million live audio plays in the first 11 months of 2025, marking its strongest year since launching the feature. The platform’s latest product updates made live audio easier to find, leading to a sharp jump in listener engagement. Notably, the Champions League once again dominated user interest, while Inter vs. Barcelona set a new all-time record with 1.1 million plays.

Growing Demand for Live Audio Coverage

Between January and November 2025, fans listened to more than 100 million audio commentaries—more than double the total from 2024. Flashscore helped accelerate this growth by removing registration requirements, improving its audio player, and introducing a clearer audio-commentary icon for quicker access.

Moreover, Flashscore now collaborates with over 180 professional commentators delivering localized coverage in 12 languages. Since 2020, this team has produced over 64,000 live commentaries, generating more than 284 million total audio plays.

Champions League Drives Global Engagement

The UEFA Champions League led all competitions with 18.6 million listens in 2025. The Premier League followed closely with 17.3 million unique plays, while La Liga drew 12.4 million, Brazil’s Serie A attracted 8.8 million, and the FIFA Club World Cup added 6.8 million.

Several marquee matches also delivered standout numbers. The Champions League semi-final second leg between Inter and Barcelona became both the year’s most-listened match and the most-played in Flashscore history. Additionally, El Clásico reached 874,000 plays, the Madrid derby logged 652,756, the Nations League clash between Portugal and Spain earned 649,074, and the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Arsenal recorded 648,412 listens.

Flashscore Expands Its Multi-Format Strategy

Chief Digital Content Officer Alan Záruba highlighted how the milestone reinforces audio’s growing role in sports consumption. He noted that Flashscore’s investment in technology and product improvements continues to resonate with fans worldwide.

Záruba also emphasized the platform’s ongoing commitment to localized coverage. Flashscore’s commentators already broadcast directly from stadiums in Brazil’s Serie A, Portugal’s Liga Portugal, and France’s Ligue 1, and the company intends to expand into more markets in 2026.

He added that crossing the 100-million-play threshold raises expectations for the coming year and further solidifies Flashscore’s position in live audio coverage.

Enhancing the Service Through AI and Editorial Quality

Looking ahead, Záruba outlined plans to combine advanced AI tools with human editorial oversight to maintain quality, speed, and trust. This hybrid approach already powers halftime content and post-match summaries in Portugal, Spain and Brazil, where it has delivered faster turnaround times, greater accuracy and a richer listening experience.
