The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has donated another 70 Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) as part of its ongoing commitment to improve healthcare accessibility nationwide.
This follows PAGCOR’s initial donation in February, bringing the total number of vehicles distributed to 130 out of its pledged 246 units. Under a new Memorandum of Agreement, the PCSO will allocate the vehicles to local government units (LGUs) that need improved emergency transport services.
Valued at PHP 141 million, the donation aims to strengthen access to urgent medical care, particularly in underserved and remote communities.
“These vehicles are not mere means of transport – they are lifelines that can spell the difference between life and death,” said PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco. “By combining PAGCOR’s resources with PCSO’s experience in health programs, we can reach more communities and save more lives.”
Each PTV unit includes a GPS navigation system, stretcher, medical oxygen tank, wheelchair, and first aid kit.
The signing ceremony took place on 15 October in Pasay City, where Tengco reaffirmed PAGCOR’s support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s initiatives to strengthen the nation’s healthcare system.
The recent typhoon, he noted, further underscored the importance of improving emergency response infrastructure across the country.
