The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has blocked another round of illegal gambling websites, including Crown Gold, Maxispin Casino, Rain.gg, Didibet, LuckyBet, Malina Casino and Spins of Glory.
These platforms violated the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 by offering unlicensed gambling services to Australian players.
Since ACMA began enforcing site blocks in 2019, it has restricted access to 1,338 illegal gaming and affiliate sites. Another 222 operators have voluntarily exited the market following the country’s stricter gambling laws introduced in 2017.
In Q2, ACMA reviewed 292 of 330 complaints, launching 20 investigations into 24 sites and issuing 10 formal warnings, including to Hollycorn NV and Stellar. It also found 73 sites in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act.
Earlier this year, ACMA fined Betfair AU$870,000 (US$567,000) for violating spam laws.
Separately, in its September report on the Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation, ACMA noted that while many sites are updating policies with AI tools, fact-checking support remains limited. The authority urged businesses to invest more in digital literacy programs to strengthen public awareness.
