Macau September GGR Falls 1.2% to $2.24B

Macau’s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell 1.2% year-on-year to MOP18.06 billion ($2.24 billion) in September. This marked the fourth consecutive month of annual declines.

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) released the figures on October 1. September revenue also fell 17.5% from August’s MOP21.89 billion ($2.71 billion), making it the lowest monthly GGR total of 2026.

September Revenue Matches Forecast

September GGR broadly matched Citigroup’s revised forecast of MOP18 billion ($2.23 billion). The brokerage lowered its estimate earlier in September after reporting weaker premium-mass table activity.

The monthly decline came despite stronger visitor traffic during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. Macau recorded about 415,000 visitor arrivals from September 25 to 27, up 19.5% year-on-year, according to the Public Security Police.

Nine-Month GGR Remains Higher

Macau’s casino GGR reached MOP187.12 billion ($23.19 billion) during the first nine months of 2026. This is up 3.2% from MOP181.34 billion ($22.47 billion) in the same period last year.

However, cumulative growth slowed from 3.7% through August, reflecting weaker performance in recent months.

Revenue Remains Below Pre-Pandemic Levels

Despite the year-to-date increase, Macau’s nine-month GGR remained 15.1% below the MOP220.30 billion ($27.30 billion) recorded during the same period in 2019.

September revenue also stood 18.2% below the September 2019 monthly total of MOP22.08 billion ($2.74 billion).

The latest figures highlight continued pressure on Macau’s casino sector despite increased visitor traffic. Moreover, premium-mass performance remains an important factor for operators and suppliers heading into the final quarter of 2026.
