ACMA Blocks Seven More Illegal Gambling Sites in Australia

ACMA

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has escalated its crackdown on illegal gambling, ordering internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to seven unlicensed websites.

The newly blocked platforms include Casiny, CoinPoker, Crown Play, Fafabet9, SlotFred, Smart 93, and Vigor Spin. According to ACMA, each of these sites was found to be offering gambling services without a license, violating the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

This move is part of ACMA’s ongoing effort to protect Australian consumers from the risks associated with unregulated gambling platforms. The regulator warns that while some offshore sites may appear legitimate, they typically fail to offer consumer protections such as dispute resolution or secure handling of funds. This puts players at increased risk of financial harm, fraud, or loss of winnings.

Since ACMA began blocking illegal sites in 2019, over 1,250 gambling and affiliate websites have been taken offline in Australia. Additionally, around 220 unlicensed operators have voluntarily withdrawn from the market since enforcement efforts began intensifying in 2017.

To promote safe gambling, ACMA maintains a register of licensed wagering services on its website. Consumers can also access educational resources and report suspicious gambling activity through ACMA’s official channels.

This latest enforcement action follows a string of regulatory moves. Earlier this month, ACMA sanctioned four licensed operators for failing to comply with the BetStop self-exclusion register rules. The regulator has also issued formal warnings to offshore operators based in Curaçao, signaling a continued focus on international compliance.

ACMA reaffirmed its commitment to upholding gambling laws and protecting users from illegal operators. Blocking access to unlicensed websites is just one part of the agency’s wider strategy to safeguard Australia’s online gambling environment.
