Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has instructed provincial authorities to continue cracking down on online fraud networks. Meanwhile, the government is strengthening oversight of the country’s casino sector.
According to local media, the campaign aims to protect Cambodia’s international reputation. It also seeks to maintain a secure and transparent business environment for investors and tourists.
Nationwide Casino Inspections
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth has ordered government agencies to conduct comprehensive inspections of casinos across the country. These inspections will verify the licensing status of each casino.
Aun Pornmoniroth, who also chairs the Commercial Gambling Management Commission, said casinos found to be involved in online fraud or other illegal activities could face license suspension or revocation.
The inspections form part of broader efforts to determine whether licensed casinos have links to online fraud operations.
Authorities Increase Pressure
Hun Manet said the government remains committed to eliminating online fraud. This is because such criminal activity undermines investor confidence and damages Cambodia’s international image.
According to state-owned Agence Kampuchea Presse, authorities targeted more than 500 suspected scam locations between early 2025 and June 22, 2026. This information cites data from the Commission for Combating Online Scams.
The report also stated that 25 casino licenses were revoked or suspended during the enforcement campaign.
Regulatory Oversight Continues
The latest measures demonstrate Cambodia’s continued efforts to strengthen regulation of its gaming industry while combating online fraud.
Authorities are pursuing a two-pronged strategy by targeting both scam operations and casinos suspected of facilitating illegal activities.
The government said maintaining strict regulatory oversight remains essential to protecting Cambodia’s business environment. Furthermore, it preserves public confidence in the country’s gaming sector.
