Leading online gambling operators in Chile have established the Responsible iGaming Association (AGR) to support the development of the country’s online gambling regulatory framework. This comes as lawmakers continue debating licensing legislation.
The association launches at a time when Chile is still working toward a dedicated legal framework for online gambling. Licensing and regulatory bills are currently under review in the Senate.
Industry Collaboration on Regulation
AGR aims to work closely with government authorities and industry stakeholders. Its goal is to help develop a transparent and sustainable regulatory framework for online gambling.
Attorney Sandra Kemp has been appointed president of the association. Founding members include Betano, Juegalo, Novibet, Betsala, and Estelarbet. Meanwhile, the organization also plans to collaborate with industry groups such as AgruGaming and the Online Betting Platforms Association (APAL).
Focus on Clear Regulatory Standards
According to Kemp, AGR was created to demonstrate that licensed operators are committed to complying with strict regulatory standards. Furthermore, they are working alongside authorities to build a well-supervised market.
The association believes a clear regulatory framework would strengthen consumer protection, increase tax revenue, and create long-term certainty for licensed operators.
Calls for Faster Legislative Progress
Chile’s online gambling licensing bill received initial approval in August 2025. However, it remains under review in the Senate before advancing to a final vote.
AGR is urging lawmakers to accelerate the legislative process. They argue that regulation is more effective than prohibition in protecting consumers and combating illegal gambling.
The association also highlighted the sector’s economic potential. It estimates that a regulated online gambling market could generate around USD 625 million in gross gaming revenue during its first two to three years. By 2030, it could grow to approximately USD 1.445 billion, supporting tax revenue and efforts to reduce illegal gambling.
