Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged Myanmar to continue strengthening its efforts against online gambling, telecom fraud, and other cross-border criminal activities. He made this statement during talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing.
According to Chinese state news agency Xinhua, Xi made the remarks during Min Aung Hlaing’s state visit to China. He emphasized the importance of closer cooperation between the two countries amid an increasingly complex international environment.
Xi noted that China regards its relationship with Myanmar as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy. Moreover, he highlighted the need for stronger collaboration on security and law enforcement matters.
Myanmar Pledges Continued Crackdown
In response, Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar would continue working closely with China to combat online gambling and telecom fraud. At the same time, he mentioned they would strengthen border security efforts.
According to Xinhua, the Myanmar leader reaffirmed his country’s commitment to cooperating with Chinese authorities. Specifically, he referred to tackling criminal networks operating across the border.
