Brazil Clubs Receive Hands-On Training Against Match-Fixing
Esportes da Sorte has launched a new integrity-focused initiative in partnership with Sportradar. This initiative involved delivering in-person workshops at Ceará and Náutico football clubs last week, marking a significant step in Brazil’s approach to sports integrity. Through the Match-Fixing Prevention Forum, both organisations aim to educate players and technical staff on recognising and preventing manipulation in sports.
The workshops covered crucial integrity topics, including definitions of match-fixing, various types of fraud, and legal consequences. Furthermore, they addressed how to handle suspicious approaches. Players and staff from the men’s and women’s senior teams, as well as under-20 squads, actively participated in the sessions.
Brazil’s Betting Regulation Fuels Compliance Efforts
This training push comes as the country of Brazil continues refining its regulatory landscape for betting and gaming. Authorities and stakeholders are focusing increasingly on internal controls and industry-wide compliance to protect sports integrity.
Ana Carolina Luna Maçães, Compliance Manager at Esportes Gaming Brasil, emphasised the importance of proactive measures.
“We believe education is the best form of prevention. We want to stand alongside clubs in this joint effort for transparency and the protection of sport,” she said.
Ceará Football Executive Lucas Drubscky agreed, stating that the club had already begun implementing its own internal integrity measures within Brazil’s regulatory framework.
“We live in a time when the integrity of sport is being questioned. In this scenario, actions like this are extremely important,” Drubscky noted.
Sportradar and Esportes da Sorte Plan More Sessions
Sportradar, the global sports technology firm supporting the workshops, currently monitors over 10,000 matches annually in Brazil. The company has forged partnerships with the Brazilian Football Confederation and 17 state federations. This collaboration reinforces its commitment to maintaining sports integrity.
This forum is part of Esportes Gaming Brasil’s broader roadmap under Brazil’s SPA/MF licence. The company manages the Onabet and Esportes da Sorte brands. Moreover, it has strengthened its compliance and governance efforts with new leadership hires and expanded responsible gambling tools.
Looking ahead, Esportes da Sorte and Sportradar plan to conduct similar workshops with Corinthians and Ferroviária in the coming weeks in Brazil. This extension aims to safeguard Brazilian football from match-fixing threats.
