Liga MX has entered into a new partnership with Polymarket and Genius Sports. The deal names Polymarket as the official prediction market partner of Mexico’s top football league in the United States.
The agreement marks another significant step in the growing convergence between professional sports and prediction markets. It gives eligible U.S. users access to prediction contracts linked to Liga MX competitions beginning with the 2026-27 season.
The partnership will cover major league events, including the Campeón de Campeones match. This match brings together the champions of the Apertura and Clausura tournaments. It is scheduled to take place on July 25, 2026, in Carson, California.
New Fan Engagement Opportunities
Liga MX views the collaboration as an opportunity to deepen engagement with its large and passionate fan base in the United States. Notably, the United States is one of the league’s most important international markets.
Under the agreement, Polymarket will become the exclusive official prediction market partner for Liga MX competitions in the U.S. As a result, it will provide fans with new ways to interact with league events through event-based prediction markets.
José Romano, Commercial Vice President of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), said the partnership reflects the league’s commitment to embracing innovative fan experiences. It also shows their dedication to protecting competition integrity.
“This partnership with Polymarket is an innovative way to connect even further with our passionate fan base in a market as crucial to the league as the United States, through digital experiences without compromising the integrity and credibility of our competitions.”
Genius Sports to Supply Official Data
A key component of the agreement is the involvement of Genius Sports, Liga MX’s official data, streaming, and integrity partner.
Genius Sports will provide Polymarket with official league data. This data will support the creation, management, and settlement of prediction market contracts tied to Liga MX matches and competitions.
The partnership is designed to ensure that market outcomes are determined using verified and reliable data sources. Therefore, it helps maintain transparency and confidence among participants.
At the center of the arrangement is the GeniusIQ platform, which operates across Liga MX venues. The platform delivers official data collection, analytics, and integrity monitoring services throughout the competition.
Official Data Becomes Critical for Prediction Markets
As prediction markets continue to expand within the sports industry, access to official data is increasingly viewed as a critical component of market accuracy and integrity.
By utilizing verified league data, operators can reduce settlement disputes, improve transparency, and strengthen confidence in event-based prediction products.
According to the partners, official data also plays an important role in protecting the integrity of both sporting competitions and the prediction markets built around them.
Polymarket Expands Sports Portfolio
The Liga MX agreement further strengthens Polymarket’s growing presence within the sports sector.
The platform has seen significant growth in sports-related activity as prediction markets increasingly compete alongside traditional betting products for user engagement. Football, in particular, has become one of the most active categories across major prediction market platforms.
Commenting on the partnership, Ari Borod, Head of Sports Business Development at Polymarket, highlighted the importance of data quality in building trustworthy prediction markets.
“Liga MX is one of the most exciting and followed football leagues in the world. Genius Sports’ official data and integrity infrastructure ensure that all of our competition markets will be built on transparency and trust that the league and its fans deserve.”
Industry Focus Shifts Toward Transparency
The collaboration also reflects a broader industry trend toward partnerships involving official data providers, sports leagues, and prediction market operators.
As the sector continues to evolve, sports organizations are increasingly seeking ways to leverage official data assets. At the same time, they aim to maintain high standards of transparency and integrity.
Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, said the partnership demonstrates the growing recognition of official data as a foundation for emerging sports engagement products.
“We are proud to work with these organizations to bring the official data and integrity infrastructure behind the transparent and trustworthy prediction markets around Liga MX competitions.”
He added that the increasing importance of official data is helping organizations build higher-quality products. At the same time, it supports the integrity of sporting competitions.
Prediction Markets Continue to Gain Momentum
The Liga MX agreement arrives at a time when prediction markets are experiencing rapid growth across sports, politics, economics, and entertainment sectors.
As leagues, operators, and technology providers explore new forms of fan engagement, partnerships built around official data and regulated prediction products are expected to become increasingly common.
For Liga MX, the collaboration offers a new avenue to engage its U.S. audience. Meanwhile, for Polymarket, it represents another milestone in the expansion of prediction markets into mainstream professional sports.
