PSSI Assures Indonesia’s National Team Agenda Stays on Track

Despite ongoing demonstrations across the country, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) insists the national team’s schedule will continue. PSSI stresses that football should unite the nation and channel people’s energy in a positive way.

Supporters as an Extra Boost

With matches held on home soil, PSSI calls on fans to fill the stadiums. Their presence will give players the extra energy needed against strong opponents. “Football should never divide us; it must unite us. Better to watch the national team than join demonstrations,” said PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi.

A Busy September for the National Team

September 2025 brings key matches for both the U-23 squad and the senior team.

  • AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers 2026
Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo will host games on 3, 6, and 9 September 2025. The Young Garuda play in Group J with South Korea, Macau, and Laos.
  • FIFA Matchday for the Senior National Team
The senior side faces Chinese Taipei on 5 September and Lebanon on 8 September 2025 at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.

Police have approved both events and allowed fans to attend. For Sidoarjo, the crowd is limited to 15,000 out of 19,600 seats.

PSSI’s Appreciation and Expectations

Yunus Nusi thanked the East Java Provincial FA, the Sidoarjo Regency and City FA, and the Surabaya City FA for preparing the venues. He also praised supporters for committing to safe and peaceful matches.

“Let’s show that national team games can run well and safely. We also hope Indonesia wins every match,” Yunus said.

Football as a Unifying Force

Even with political unrest, football can bring Indonesians together. PSSI remains confident the U-23 and senior teams will play without trouble. Now, fans await Garuda’s fight on the field, with hopes the Red-and-White flag will fly high through football success.
