Sportradar, CONMEBOL, and AFA Join Forces to Strengthen Football Integrity in Argentina

Integrity in football is increasingly vital across South America, and Argentina recently hosted a major step forward in this effort. Sportradar partnered with CONMEBOL and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) to deliver another edition of the Integrity Training Program, a series of activities designed to promote ethical behavior and prevent match manipulation. Betano, a responsible sports engagement partner, also supported the event.

Advancing Transparency and Fair Play

This program forms part of a broader regional strategy launched by CONMEBOL to enhance transparency, ethics, and education in football governance. The initiative travels across South American countries, engaging local associations, regulators, and stakeholders in open discussions about challenges such as match-fixing, corruption, discrimination, and violence in sports.

In Argentina, the training gathered football executives, referees, coaches, players, and club representatives. Participants attended presentations and exchanged insights on preserving integrity amid the growing influence of global betting markets and digitalization.

Claudio Tapia, president of AFA, highlighted the importance of prevention:

“Match manipulation is a scourge that affects the entire world, not just football. The best way to fight it is through prevention and education—especially among young players. That is our greatest responsibility.”

Regional Collaboration in Action

The session featured key figures from the integrity and compliance landscape, including Graciela Garay, Director of Ethics, Compliance, and Integrity at CONMEBOL; Jorge Ojeda, CONMEBOL Integrity Director; and Felippe Marchetti, Sportradar’s Integrity Director for Latin America.

Marchetti emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts:

“It is a pleasure for Sportradar to collaborate again with CONMEBOL and its member associations, this time with AFA, to promote a culture of integrity across the region. These training sessions are fundamental to strengthening cooperation and our shared commitment to ethical and transparent sport.”

Hybrid Approach Expands Access

The event streamed live on AFA’s official YouTube channel, allowing players, referees, and coaches nationwide to participate remotely. By combining technology with education, the program extended its reach while ensuring that voices from all regions of Argentina contributed to discussions on preventing manipulation.

Promoting a Culture of Integrity Across Latin America

This collaboration demonstrates growing awareness among Latin American football institutions about safeguarding the sport’s credibility. As the betting industry globalizes, education and preventive initiatives become crucial to maintaining fair competitions. Through programs like this, Argentina positions itself as a leader in proactive sports governance, setting an example for other federations. Ultimately, integrity, collaboration, and education remain essential pillars to ensure football inspires not only passion but also trust.
