NFL Awards Super Bowl 2029 to Las Vegas

The National Football League has officially awarded Super Bowl LXIII in 2029 to Las Vegas. It also confirmed Allegiant Stadium as the venue following a vote by team owners. This took place at the league’s Annual Meeting in Phoenix. The decision follows an evaluation conducted by the NFL’s Fan Engagement & Major Events Committee.

Las Vegas will host the Super Bowl for the second time, after first staging the event in 2024. That inaugural edition drew more than 330,000 visitors. It also generated over $1 billion in economic impact, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The game saw the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25–22 in overtime.

Las Vegas Expands Role as Major U.S. Sports Hub

The return of the Super Bowl further strengthens Las Vegas’ growing position in the U.S. sports calendar. Allegiant Stadium is also scheduled to host the College Football Playoff national championship in 2027 and the Final Four in 2028. Meanwhile, the Athletics are expected to begin playing in a new Las Vegas stadium in 2028. The city may also secure an NBA expansion franchise that year.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league is “excited to bring the Super Bowl back to Las Vegas,” describing the city as one of America’s premier sports and entertainment destinations.

2024 Success Helped Secure Return

NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly said the 2024 Super Bowl was widely viewed as a logistical and commercial success. He cited the energy, hospitality, and scale delivered by Las Vegas. The strong performance contributed to unanimous support from team owners to return in 2029.

Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said the city’s first Super Bowl proved its ability to combine sports, entertainment, and hospitality in one destination. He added that preparations for 2029 will aim to build on that momentum.

In addition to the game itself, Las Vegas is expected to host major Super Bowl week events across the metro area. These include NFL Honors, Super Bowl Experience, and Super Bowl Opening Night, alongside community initiatives.

Separately, On Location, the NFL’s official hospitality partner, has launched a Priority Access deposit program for Super Bowl LXIII. Fans can secure early access to ticket and hospitality packages through refundable deposits that determine purchasing priority.

Shift in NFL Approach to Sports Betting Cities

The decision also reflects the NFL’s evolving stance on hosting marquee events in markets with legalized sports betting. This factor previously excluded Las Vegas from consideration.

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis welcomed the announcement, noting the continued impact of bringing the franchise and Allegiant Stadium to the city.

Super Bowl LXIII will follow upcoming Super Bowls scheduled in other cities, including California next year and Atlanta in 2028. The league continues rotating the event among major U.S. destinations.
