Cambodia’s gaming regulator is preparing a nationwide casino inspection and evaluation programme. This is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight of the country’s commercial gambling industry.
The Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGMC) confirmed that officials recently reviewed preparations for the nationwide evaluations. They also discussed the regulator’s priorities for the second half of 2026.
Regulator Advances Inspection Plans
According to an official update published by the CGMC, the meeting was chaired by Secretary General Yeth Vinel. It also included discussions on the regulator’s strategic planning for 2027 to 2030.
The regulator has not announced when the inspections will begin or how many casinos will be assessed. They have also not announced the specific evaluation criteria that will be used during the nationwide review.
Compliance Framework Continues to Develop
The latest meeting follows earlier work on the inspection initiative. Earlier this month, the CGMC reviewed the final draft of its casino inspection and assessment project. Alongside this, they considered measures aimed at strengthening the administration of gaming professional licences.
The initiative forms part of the regulator’s broader efforts to enhance governance. It also aims to improve regulatory oversight across Cambodia’s licensed casino sector.
Focus on Licensing and Enforcement
In June, CGMC Chairman Aun Pornmoniroth called on relevant government agencies to conduct comprehensive inspections of casino operators. The goal was to verify compliance with licensing requirements.
He also warned that operators found to be involved in online fraud or other illegal activities could face licence revocation.
The planned nationwide evaluations reflect Cambodia’s continued focus on strengthening regulatory compliance. They also aim at improving industry governance and reinforcing enforcement measures across its commercial gambling market.
