Coljuegos Launches Keno Across Colombia, Boosting Regulated Gaming

Colombia’s national gaming regulator, Coljuegos, has officially launched Keno operations nationwide. As a result, this marks a major milestone for the country’s regulated gambling market. Moreover, the new initiative is projected to generate over 500 billion Colombian pesos, which in turn will support the nation’s subsidized healthcare system.

Nationwide Rollout with Extensive Infrastructure

Keno will now be accessible throughout Colombia, supported by a network of 26,000 sales terminals across all 32 departments. Four licensed companies will manage operations in separate regions, ensuring nationwide coverage. Furthermore, the game’s launch is part of Coljuegos’ ongoing efforts to transition previously illegal gambling products into a fully regulated ecosystem. This improves transparency, player protection, and state revenue.

How Keno Works

Players select 10 numbers from 1 to 80 and place a stake ranging from 500 to 20,000 Colombian pesos. The game then randomly draws 20 numbers using a certified random number generator. Winnings depend on the number of matches. Draws occur every 6 to 10 minutes, and results are available via streaming through licensed operators.

Wide Accessibility and User Support

The large-scale infrastructure guarantees easy access for players. Each of the four operational regions is managed by a different licensed company. Users can find detailed information about these companies on the official Keno website.

Supporting Healthcare Financing

A central goal of Keno’s introduction is to generate revenue for Colombia’s subsidized healthcare system. Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, highlighted that the launch creates “a new game that, in addition to contributing to healthcare, will give million-dollar prizes to players.”

Hincapié projected that Keno could achieve sales of over 2.3 trillion pesos within five years, becoming one of the country’s most popular games. He also stressed responsible play. He encourages participants to use only authorized points of sale to ensure a safe and legally compliant experience.

Strengthening Colombia’s Regulated Gaming Market

With Keno now operational, Colombia continues to position itself as one of the most structured and mature regulated gaming markets in Latin America. The introduction of new, fully regulated games strengthens the country’s oversight capabilities. Additionally, these measures expand player options and maintain a secure, state-monitored environment.
