e-Games Lead the Market Surge
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) reported that the country’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached PHP 214.75 billion ($3.74 billion) in the first half of 2025 — a 26% increase year-on-year.
This remarkable growth in the Philippine gaming sector is significant. e-Games, including e-bingo and grantees, generated PHP 114.83 billion, or 53.5% of the total GGR. Licensed casinos following at PHP 93.36 billion (43.5%), while PAGCOR-operated casinos contributed PHP 6.56 billion (3.1%).
Balancing Growth and Responsibility
PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro H. Tengco acknowledged the e-games sector’s earning potential, but emphasized the need for responsible regulation. “Our role goes beyond revenue generation. In the Philippine market, as partners in nation-building, we must balance growth with responsible gaming standards,” he stated.
Boosting Regulation and Public Support
PAGCOR also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ad Standards Council (ASC) to enhance ad monitoring. The agreement aims to curb gambling ads during primetime and in Philippine public spaces. Tengco added, “These efforts are part of our broader mission to ensure that online gambling aligns with the public interest.”
Earlier this week, PAGCOR also provided PHP 30 million in relief aid following monsoon floods in Manila, showcasing their commitment to Philippine communities.
