Yggdrasil has strengthened its YGG Masters programme by welcoming Nordic independent developer Lakka Studios. With this move, Lakka becomes the 20th studio to join the supplier’s collaborative content initiative, reinforcing Yggdrasil’s commitment to diverse and creative game development.
Expanding the YGG Masters Network
Through the partnership, Lakka Studios will create and distribute new titles via Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters network. At the same time, the studio will adopt Yggdrasil’s Game in a Box platform, which supports the entire development cycle while offering built-in regulatory tools and access to global distribution channels.
As a result, Lakka Studios can focus more on creative production, while Yggdrasil handles technical, compliance, and market access requirements. This structure allows both parties to scale efficiently without compromising quality or regulatory standards.
Focus on Creative Diversity
According to Yggdrasil, adding Lakka Studios aligns with its wider strategy to expand content variety by collaborating with independent developers that bring unique creative styles. In particular, Lakka Studios focuses on light-hearted gameplay, simple mechanics, and visuals inspired by Nordic design traditions.
Moreover, the YGG Masters programme enables partner studios to retain full creative control over their games. Meanwhile, they benefit from Yggdrasil’s technology stack, compliance infrastructure, and extensive commercial reach. Once released, titles developed under the programme reach operators across regulated markets worldwide.
Industry Reactions
Zoe Bird, Head of Masters at Yggdrasil, welcomed the new partnership and highlighted its strategic value. She noted that Lakka Studios adds a familiar Nordic identity that complements the growing mix of studios already in the YGG Masters portfolio.
From the studio’s perspective, the partnership provides a clear and structured route to market. A spokesperson for Lakka Studios described the move as an important milestone, adding that Yggdrasil’s technology and operational support will help bring its game concepts to players more efficiently.
Looking Ahead
Yggdrasil confirmed that YGG Masters remains central to its long-term content strategy. By working with multiple independent teams, the supplier can scale production while maintaining consistent technical performance and regulatory compliance. Following integration with the Game in a Box platform, further releases from Lakka Studios are expected.
In recent months, Yggdrasil has continued to expand the programme. In November 2025, the supplier added Suits & Royals, a studio known for classic slot mechanics. Additionally, Yggdrasil has secured new distribution agreements with operators such as Goldrun Casino in the Netherlands, Novoline in Germany, bet365 in Italy, and Fruity Entertainment in Finland, supporting its broader growth across regulated markets.
