Google will introduce a new certification program for social casino game advertisers, allowing eligible publishers to promote their titles through Google Ads. This will operate under a dedicated approval process beginning August 26, 2026.
The update expands Google’s gambling and gaming advertising framework by creating a separate certification pathway for social casino games. At the same time, it maintains strict compliance requirements for advertisers.
New Certification Process Introduced
Under the new policy, eligible advertisers will be able to apply for certification directly through their Google Ads accounts. This new process will replace the previous process that primarily relied on the Google Ads Help Center.
Google said the rollout will occur gradually. This means some advertisers may continue using the existing application process until the new in-platform option becomes available. Existing certifications and applications currently under review will remain unaffected.
Strict Advertising Requirements Remain
Google defines social casino games as titles that simulate casino-style gameplay, such as slots, poker, blackjack, and roulette. These do not offer real-money gambling or prizes with real-world value.
To qualify for certification, advertisers must comply with applicable local laws and clearly disclose that their games are intended only for users above the legal gambling age. In addition, advertisements must state that the games do not provide real-money rewards. Any in-app purchases must also be disclosed within the advertisement or on the landing page.
The company also prohibits the use of branding associated with real-money gambling operators in social casino advertisements.
Separate Accounts Required for Different Products
Google said businesses promoting both real-money gambling products and social casino games must use separate Google Ads accounts for each category.
The certification program will be available only in approved jurisdictions where Google’s advertising policies permit social casino promotions. For example, eligible markets include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, India, and several other countries.
The update streamlines the certification process while maintaining Google’s focus on regulatory compliance, age restrictions, and responsible advertising standards for social casino game developers.
